MIA and now returned from the Dead!
Hey guys! I am so sorry that I have been MIA. My life has become crazier now that I have started a new semester in school. I haven't forgotten about all my readers but every time I have some free time I use it to sleep. Either way I am back at it I PROMISE.
Now that all the apologies are out of the way.... let me update you.
Even though I haven't been writing about my journey I have continued to work towards my goals.
It has been great. I feel better and I have more energy (which has been very useful right now.) So these are the updates:
I started a gym membership at Planet Fitness. I absolutely love it there. I feel very comfortable and I don't feel like anyone is judging me. (Even if they are, I just don't care.) I go in and get what I need to get done and leave. It's a convenient location and I got the Black Card membership so I can go to any of there other locations. (Haven't tried that yet, but I will.) It is very clean there and the staff in St. Charles is very friendly. Everything is purple- which I love!!! When you walk around there is all types of age groups and fitness levels so you don't stand out if you look lost. (My first day I certainly did.) This gym is definitely for the everyday fitness person (or a couple times a week- Whatever your preference.)
I have tried to visit the gym everyday. I usually spend about an hour or so there. I start out with some cardio. Walk/run for about 30 to 40mins. (or until my legs feel like jell-o. lol.) I just recently added about 10 mins on the bike. (which is killer.)After that I call cardio a day.
I then switch every day to something new for strength training. I rotate between arms, legs, and abs. Those are my least favorite areas (also the worst areas to work. eeh) I am no professional and I will never claim to be but I do feel sore and I have notices some physical changes.
On top of going to the gym I have continued my meal prep. It is actually a wonderful idea because during the week I don't have to think about food. I cook one day (I call it D day) and then eat the rest of the week. I haven't had much success with cutting out all sugar but I have cut back. Meal prepping makes you very conscious of other foods that you shouldn't eat. Even when my friends want to eat out, I have avoided fast food altogether and tried to make healthy choices at a restaurant. I just tried cauliflower pizza crust and California Pizza Kitchen and it was amazing! It really didn't even taste any different. There seasonal power salad was yummy too!
I really have tried to find a happy medium. Don't get me wrong, some days are harder than others and I do have some sweet treats on occasion but in moderation. I have learned moderation is the key! (I very large key that I hope opens a magic door to a happy place.)
So my big adventure for the last couple of weeks has been ROCK CLIMBING! I finally got up the nerve to try it. I am deathly afraid of heights and I don't like not having control of the whole situation but I wanted to try it. I said this year was different and I was going to face some fears so here I go.
I went with my sister and her boyfriend and it was a very relaxing situation until it was my turn. The first time I tried to climb I was so terrified I didn't get far up. (Let me tell you, everyone makes it look so easy.) I also felt the burn of your fingers holding on for dear life on these rocks. I can't imagine actual rocks on an actual mountain. (SCARY.)
So after some time passed and I watched my little sister and her boyfriend try a couple of times, I was like ok I'm going to go again. (I don't know why I put myself in these situations.) So here I went. I think I got about 8ft and called it quits. I looked down and that isn't a good idea. I froze and my body was shaking and I was sweating. So try holding on to these rocks with sweaty palms and shaking legs- let me tell you it doesn't work very well. Either way I conquered my fear for like 10 mins and I was happy. I tried it and decided it wasn't for me but my sister really enjoyed it. She actually made it up to the top (Go her!) I am happy that I got to share this experience with her and well now you.
I also have to share a very funny moment. Just yesterday my BFF and I tried charcoal toothpaste. We have wanted to try it for some time but were mildly grossed out by how it made your mouth black. Let me tell you it definitely does make your whole mouth black, but very worth it. I felt like our smiles were so much whiter afterward- it could just be because 2 sec before you wash it out your whole mouth looks like you just at tar, but still. I think it was worth the extra cost. It was little messy but that's to be expected. (it's black toothpaste.)
We found our charcoal toothpaste at Bed Bath and Beyond (I was very surprised to see all the other beauty items they had there.) I don't remember the name but if your interested it was 5.99 and worth the experience. We now love it and we love the photos more!
After we tried it her BF came home and we made him try it as well. (He wouldn't show us his black mouth but we know it was just as wonderful as ours.)
Now that we are all caught up my next adventure will be:
Areal yoga
Kickboxing
Zumba
If you have any other suggestions let me know. I really want to try a whole bunch of different things to see if there is something that works best for me and that I could start a new hobby or activity. I am really up for anything. You just may have to give me some time to mentally prepare for it.
